I would strongly reccomend the barker's book
Its one of the best produced and printed books in my collection
Cant fault it at all, and i'm in print
If you order direct from vpi its around £55 delivered and even comes in its own custom keepcase.
kevin Mcurleys book is also a great buy, informative and great pics.
Get them both !! |

I have to agree on the John Berry book, which is now referred to as 'The Recipe Book' in our house The Kevin McCurley one is also really good.
I'll add the VPI one to my list of ones to get then I also like 'The Living Pythons' which is more general and very scientific. _________________ www.draco2.co.uk

Thanks for the reply guys. I'm mainly looking for something that goes into detail about the various morphs and the genetics behind them (yes, a recipe book if you like ). I've got quite a few more general "care" books etc but I want to start to dabble in the royal morphs a bit as I'm mainly keeping gtp's and emeralds at the moment. |

I haven't got the John Berry one, perhaps i should
VPI pythons of the world volume 2 is great if you want in depth details about royals... and i loved the detail that went on in that book. I probably prefer it over the NERD book, but the NERD book is still excellent. |

Just my opinion but I think that the VPI book is better than all the other BP specific books put together. Dave Barker is first and foremost a highly experienced zoologist and that is reflected in the depth of his knowledge and the quality of his writing. The NERD book is fine for identifying various morph combos and certainly has a more commercial approach to the subject. |

3 different books for 3 different purposes.
John Berry's book is an excellent 'recipe' book for cooking up the various combos. It's the sort of but you will keep picking up when you are trying to decide what to breed to what etc.
Kevin's book is on the same lines as John's but also has a care section but the morph side is now way out of date.
The Barkers book is without doubt the BEST book in terms of photo quality, print, design and content but it's not the sort of book you will want to leave in your snake room to get dirty. You WILL wash your hands before you even look at their book My ONLY gripe is it's annoying size format, doesn't fit on any of my book shelves _________________
