Help! My friend has a 6ft male burmese which he has had for 8 weeks and ever since he has had it it won't eat. He has another burmese which is 10ft and he has had since a baby which is fine. He has tried different types and size of prey and the burmese just seems to shy away from it.

He has it in a 4 x 2 x 2 viv with a heat mat, his temps are around 80 which I personally feel is too low. Can anyone help or have any suggestions??

I would up the temps to 88-90 in the hot end for a start..80 is way too low!!..Also maybe worth asking previous owner what it was feeding on..may have been live feeder.

I thought the temps were too low. He got him from a reptile store in the North West, they said that he ate fine for them but didn't say whether he was a live eater or not. Can live eaters be swapped over to pre killed?

How will he raise the temp if he is on a heat mat?

Well up the temp on the stat..take it the mat is connected to a stat?..if not do so asap..if that is only heating you have in 4ft viv then guessing ambient air temps are low so a bulb or ceramic would be needed to get temps up...

Think I need to go round and sort his viv out for him, like I say it's my friend that has the burm, not me although would love a burm don't have the space.

Thanks for your advice Stuart it's much appreciated
