this happens all the time when i catch them i showed my mum and said aww look what happened to this grass snake.( i knew it wasn't dead really) I put it on the ground then about 10 seconds later it slithered off! Surprised
It is amazing! they let off an awful pong too!!!! Laughing

the smell is to put things off eating them. they dont smell all the time.
