can someone please give me some advice (or reasurrance)! my high orange boa ci is very very pregnant, to my calculations she about the 105th day after her POS. so i was getting ready to see some baby's. but 2 days ago she suddenly got the milky/blue eyes that means she is going to shed her skin. somebody told me that because of this she is most probably gonna get all slugs/dead baby's! this is my first time breeding with boa's and i am worried sick now! is there anybody here that has been true something like this and do they know if it indeed means that she will have only dead baby's???

Shocked Shocked Well i'v never heard of this ( so i could be wrong) but i can't see this being true seems to be very dramatic. The snake may just be having a late pregnancy she should have them after her shed Very Happy Very Happy

i hear very different story's about it, one person say's that his boa was in the 9th day of shedding and had all dead baby's and slugs, another say's that she shed's first and then have baby's and again another one say's it could go either way! but nobody seems to be able to tell something for sure about it. so i'll just have to wait now, but i'm getting a bit depressed about it Sad

Having read on this subject a bit, I would say that IF your female is showing signs of being very heavily gravid, then the chances are that she has live young inside her. The reason I say this is that in a book by Vincent Russo, it says that females who have given birth to slugs are generally much thinner than females with live young inside them.

Unfortunately, the only thing it says about shed, is that females generally go into a shed cycle immediately after ovulation with the shed cycle generally taking much longer than a feeding cycle shed.
