QUASIMODO. This is the real Quasimodo, I just pinched his name to use on this Forum Rolling Eyes He is a Northern Pine Snake, about 10 / 11 years old. Nine or so years ago I was wandering around a reptile shop - as one does Wink - and saw this lad squashed into a small viv. He had been brought back to the shop by his original owner...... He came home with me Laughing He is now almost 7' long. In the photos he is coming up to shed.

He has fathered about 50 babies, and has always been an absolute darling. The couple of times that he bit me was my fault, not his. I used to let him out to wander around but stopped doing that after one memorable occasion. He was half-way up the stairs when he had a panic attack. OH MAN did he go ballistic Shocked As anyone who has owned Pituophis will know the noise was LOUD and he was coiled to strike.

Sooooo, I grabbed an umbrella, opened it and used it to gently pin most of him down whilst grabbing a bit of him. When back in his viv he continued to thrash around and HIIISSSSSSSS. Put a blanked over the viv to give him total dark and left him to calm down. Took him hours bless his little-cotton-socks. Since then he stays in his viv Exclamation Exclamation

Hope that you like the photos of him,
Sue

Yes Lynne I must admit that looking at the photo of his head, he does look quite aggressive really. That may be the reason that more people do not own Pituophis, which is a real shame 'cos he is such a sweetie as indeed are my other varieties of Pituophis. My Pits are a doddle to keep, especially when compared to the fussy Royals... Wink Rolling Eyes

I believe that you are in the States aren't you ? You can get some really lovely colour morphs of Bulls / Pines / Gophers in the States. I got Quasi from a shop that sold reptiles in just part of the shop, the rest of the shop was for fish. Now they have stopped selling reptiles. My Bull was from a private breeder, the best way to buy them if you can.
