I have a female yellow rat and male great plains rat who mated last year eggs didn't hatch.

I was told by people that all eggs she lays after mating with my male the eggs will always be infertile is this correct.

Just that she will lay a clutch this year

1st clutch were infertile was first mating

2nd clutch double were good looking just dint hatch.

I've tried a homemade incubator no luck is it possible to just use a glass Viv filled with moss and water bowl and underneath mat under Viv and keep temp at 80F can it be done will try anything once.
