Hello All,
I’m new to this site and reptile keeping in general. However I have been doing a lot of reading over the past few weeks especially on this site.
I recently purchased a beautiful Sambava Panther Chameleon (Rambo – due to his current colours) from Lee Warren (thanks Lee) and I’m building him a new viv for when he’s big enough – about two weeks from now I guess. The viv size will be around 60cm x 70~80cm x 45~50cm. The viv will have a mesh lid for ventilation and ventilation grilles at the bottom
For heating I’m thinking about using the Habistat day/night dimmer thermostat and a 60w ceramic heat emitter with shield. Is this ok given the size viv or should it be a higher wattage? Will he be ok with only one source of heating?
For lighting I’m planning to use the Exo Terra Light Dimming Terrarium Lamp Controller with Exo Terra Repti Glo 5.0. I’ve been advised by a local shop to put the lights down either side of the viv. Is this ok or should the lighting come from the top of the viv instead? Does anyone here use night lights for their Chameleons?
I would also like to fit a misting system in there because when I mist the viv he generally makes his way into the line of fire and loves it…. Any recommendations from personal experience?
I’m also looking into building a Gecko viv under Rambo's. Would this be ok as heat rises and all that kind of stuff?
Any suggestions / ideas on improving this setup would be much appreciated.
Thanks
