I quite like it. As long as it's marketed as a hybrid I don't see the problem.

I really hate this to....
I hope they turn out to be sterrile. ( is that a proper englisch word?)

If someone is going to outcross those hiddious hybrids against normal ciliatus or chahoua, who can tell the difference???

I don't keep different species together, but if I really HAD to, for some reason, and they would breed, i would NEVER hatch the eggs.....

That's the thing that bothers me, not the First cross but the subsequent crosses that look almost pure and yes Marlies Sterile is the right word Wink

I think it's very sad that people want to breed such animals. Sure it's interesting that two species that are phenotypical (is that a proper word in English?) so different can and will cross breed. But that doens't mean you should do this!

I've seen pictures of R.ciliatus-R.chahoua hybrids that look just like R. ciliatus. And frankly, that scares the crap out of me.

Rhacodactylus ciliatus was only rediscovered in 1994. It's our job to keep them "pure" (in lack of a better word). I truely hope you won't breed this animal. And I feel that you are obligated to keep this animal until he or she dies.

I hope you are not offended, it's not personal it's just how I feel about hybrids.

cheers,

Tariq Stark

Not my animal, just been posted on the Kingsnake hybrid forums. I have known of this hybrid for a while but rarely see pictures, my views really echo yours in that sense. Although hybrids can be made and will live healthily (in some cases) its not something I'm attracted to. I'm very interested in keeping locales of certain species pure never mind species!! Cool

I apologize, I did not know that this wasn't your animal. I'm glad we are on the same page on these hybrids. I've written article about hybridization in Rhacodactylus spp, alas it is written in Dutch.

personally
i do not see the problem with hybridization of animals

if many people are willing to inbreed animals brother x sister or sister x mother for the sake of preserving a new morph or characteristic
which i personally find ALOT worse than any hybrid !!
i mean
would you have sex with your sister because you look attractive and so does she ?

then what is the problem with hybrids ?

So good you had to say it twice? Laughing

Also I think your a little confused see a sister and mother could never be bred back to each other as they are missing a vital ingredient Razz Laughing

and finally would you have sex with a dog, monkey or a chicken to produce something new and cool?
