Iam well happy this morning as my girl ate a medium mouse last night. The last time she ate was on the 3rd on Jan and that was a rat weaner. When i up'd her food to rat weaners over christmas she was fine and ate two weaners then all of a sudden she stoped. I waited a week before offering her anything and she refused rat weaners and one time i offered her a large mouse but she didn't want that either. she would go up to the food item and just sniff it and sit on it until she got bored and went back into her hide. well last night i thought as she hasn't eaten for awhile i would try her on something smaller and it worked she struck at it but didn't coil it but she did eat it . I think iam going to offer her another medium mouse in 5 days and then if she eats that will try her on a rat pup as i would prefer her to eat rats but eating mice is better then not eating. |

great news. but some of mine will at the moment, only take large mice. i wouldnt worry about that as long as she is eating. plenty time to move her over, and we all know how weird royals can be at eating. _________________

Yes it does seem that they will eat HUGE amounts over a few months, and then have several weeks when they are not eating but still seem to grow. I suppose in the wild they eat when the food is there, but reach a point when enough is enough and a bit of utilizing of the food is called for. |
