I'm sure it can and I don't agree with it ... if you intend to over feed to get growth, try SMALLER meals .... a friend of mine was sold a huge male Motley boa a few years ago (when they cost real money) and she couldn't get him to feed ... the bozo breeder who sold it had power fed him him ... I've never seen a fat snake in the wild ... yes, one with a meal in it but not fat ... lean males make better breeders. |
John, what would you say is an acceptable feeding schedule? and how would you describe 'power feeding'?
And yes, I totally agree, lean males of almost all reptiles tend to make better breeders |
When I want to "grow" my Ball pythons, I feed them every small meals every fourl days .... don't try that with boas though ... Once my ball pythons are adults, I feed the females on maintenance diet of one medium rat a week or to beef them up for breeding season a smaller rat twice a week. Males only ever get one feed a week. I know other breeders who push their snakes, I simply don't agree with them. _________________ John Berry

and the only way it will feed is assist and it has been assisted
for about 3 months what would you do.
It is already in a tiny tub. would you leave it for a few weeks or ?? |
I've had to assist some snakes for 2 - 3 mths but if the snake is normal and the environment is good, it should switch to normal food .... try feeding tricks, dark room, warm food, good hide box, try scenting the mouse on a African rat (don't know what you call them in the UK) ? |
Thanks. . . dont know where i will get an african rat from!!!
Love the pastel pied!
Scott will this thread stay up I take it? for future reference. _________________ Regards, Paul.

I have a three/four day gap between feeds, and also skip an entire week to fully rest them.
Even with a strict routine do you find some ball pythons grow a lot faster than others in the rack? _________________
