Hi all. Ive just got a young royal python. Its about 2ft long and at the moment its in a 3ft x 18 x18 Viv. Its full of plants and hide but Ive read about them going off food if they live in a too big Viv. Is it worth dividing the Viv to make it smaller?? Or putting in into a small tub? (have a small tub spare heat mat and thermostat) Thanks. Paul

i would put it into something smaller, or pack out the viv you have her in. but a 3 foot viv is kinda large for a 2 foot royal.

I dont feed snakes in the Viv's. I feed them in separate tubs so it rules out them ingesting any substrate. By pack out the Viv do you mean add more hides etc?? The tub Ive got it about 2ft x 1ft. Would that be an OK size?

add hides, logs, plants, anything to make it seem smaller. yes that tub size would be fine.

Will do. Thanks for the help Lynne. I also decided to use the heat mat as you (and others) recommended. At the mos theres a few hides and a water bowl in the Viv but will get more hides tomorrow after work to make it seem smaller and more secure. Also may set up the small tub so its all ready in case i decide to move it. Thanks again.
