Quick intro..
I am new to reptile keeping, and in October got my first hoggie.. I went to the pet shop looking for a corn snake, and after half an hour of handling and talking (and after the husband dropped one) decided that it was not for me. It was then that the idea of a hoggie was put forward! Wow.. it was honestly love at first sight, and so I came home with Kartush, a small female hoggie..
She is doing fine, recently shed, eats two pinkies a week and is really friendly. I was surprised that she 'knows' me, when the husband picks her up she makes a bee-line back to me, she also rests her head and climbs onto my hand when I am messing around in her tank.. Maybe all snakes get used to one person, I honestly don't know.
She also gets really grumpy when she is hungry and so sweet when she puffs up.
Other than my hog, I have 2 cats, 2 tanks tropical fish, 1 tank of cold fish, Indian stick insects, GALS and a Fire belled Newt (who is now 7 years old and strangely eats pinkies). I tried my hand at Mantis, but the first one got sick and died, and the second one died during shed, so I gave up.
So, the slippery slope has started, and now I would love more hoggies.. |
