I had my 1.2 multis for about a month now, does anyone know wroughly the gestation period for them and I've heard they can take a liking for eating their own offspring, how common is this and is it mainly the males doing the eating |

Gestation is 21-23 days. Multi's are usually excellent parents and don't normally eat their offspring, but it has been known for an over eager first time female to consume the afterbirths and continue eating the offspring.
If the trio is left undisturbed, they should re-produce without any problem. _________________ If you don't know, ask! |

I dont know if it really helps, but I give mine a lot of protein (mealworms, dogfood and/or catfood) and I have never lost any young... _________________ *steps are the only obstacle on the ladder to succes...*

Do you mean dry dog/cat food ? Also never thought of mealworms,I've just bred my first litter and found them very slow to wean.Maybe more protein is the answer. |

I feed mine on all sorts decent cheap dry dog foods / potatoe peelings/ cooked pasta/ carrots /cucumber /apples /brocili etc etc
they are now breeding and not eating the young
just leave them well alone and they get on with it and produce huge litters LOL
very pleased myself now ..
i had a few setbacks that were down to immature mothers i think
good luck Tom _________________

Thanks guys,I've just found a lady up the road from me who literally has hundreds of them,so I'm going to take around 10 adults of her to start another few groups off ,hopefully they will be coming out my ears soon as my Carpets are eating like theirs no tommorrow and I will have a constant supply of live to feed to my problem feeder |
