Hey, Im thinking of getting 2 yemens. I will include a picture of the setup (drawn by yours truely). Basically its 2 2.5(L) x 1.25(W) x 1.75(H) joined together by a round door in the middle (which, if there is any problems, I can seperate them both until I have a bigger tank for them. I will include lots of branches and foilage, maybe some real plants(climbers, and some small palm like things). What do you think?

they need lots of space to get about height more then anything , a basking light and they do need real plants as they eat them, fiscus plants are best i also use umbrella plants.
my yemen is in a mesh viv as they also need lots of ventiliation, and like their viv to be sprayed i also have a dripper so that he can drink.
good luck

Forgot to mension, the doors will be mesh instead of glass. Is 1.74feet a big enough height of would more be better? What are spider plants like? My mum has lots of them and I could grow the shoots from them. Ill try get some fuscus and umberella plants too. Are fiscus the slightly spikey broad plants with pink flowers?

hi Kris,
I would recommend a higher and wider viv, really need 2ft min, if you could change it to 5ft wide, 2ft high, 2ft deep, I'm sure you could rear 2 yemens without problems, although I would keep two girls together or 1 male and 2 females.

As Linda says, Fiscus plants are about the best, although I now use a mass of fake plants.

Can't really give a minimum, just let me put it this way, the bigger the viv the less likelyhood of conflict and the easier it is for you to provide multiple basking sites etc.

I have a 1.3 together in a 2ft x 2ft x 4ft long. It has two main basking sites and is filled with branches and fake plant.

I have a friend with 1.10 together in a 4ft x 4ft x 4ft, although I haven't seen how densly planted his viv is.

I don't particulary recommend keeping Yemens in groups but I have found it can work for me and for other breeders I know. I have however had a few males that can't be housed with females....even mating times are risky.

OK. I might not get Yemens. I dont really have any vivs suitable and dont want to spend alot making one when I have 5 or 6 spare vivs far more suitable for something different. I would love some, but its the money problem. I am allowed a pair of something but dont know what to get. Any Ideas? Or if it best starting a new post?
