just a quick question, which I think I already know the answer to but just want to double check. i was checking my cool side temps using a digital thermometer yesterday and they are abit on the low side during the day they got to 79.9oF and during the night went down to 77.9oF. which may explain why my girl hasn't eaten in 2 weeks i know that's not long but she spends all day in the cool side hide so i was thinking maybe its kind of slowed her metabolism down so shes not really hungry (could be talking out my bum here iam not sure). Anyway i was thinking shall i put a little heat mat under the cool side with a thermostat set to 82? ive got a spare small mat so all i'd need to get is another thermostat. just like your opinions, views and or past experience?
cheers

how old is she and has she been with a male?
What is the hot side temp? it may be too warm!
Often this time of year they can go on a go slow feeding period.
Also is she getting ready for a shed cycle.
To answer your Qs you need a cool end in case of emergencies e.g. thermostat sticking on and overheating the tank, so answer is no to heatmat on cool end.

As long as she has access to the correct temps in the warm end I wouldn't worry.... _________________

thanks for the replies guys, iam not sure whats going on it says at 82.4of at the moment the ambient air temp is 84.6of and the hot end is 92.2oF. iam going to order a infa red temp gun.
shes around 6 months old so not been with any males.
the hot side changes between 89 and 92 but will definatly double check it and use the memory function on the thermometer.
she has recently shed in one piece and she looks healthy and has plenty of weight so iam not too bothered by her missing a couple of meals. As long as its nothing to do with husbandry issues. |
