Hi, I've installed my new RO system, it's all pretty simple to instal. The only problem I had was that it comes without a hose connector and you have to order it separate. Otherwise it comes with pushfit connectors, which make for easy fitting.
I was getting lime spots on the plant leaves from the old one, a sure sign that the filter had no more life left in it, lasted a good three years though.

Hi Paul, I got the DG 50 gallon one from Charterhouse Aquatics, costs 70 including delivery, delivery is free.
I used to use de-ionised water, but at 6 quid for 22 litres it was expensive so gave that up and went for RO. Also fits in with having an automated system. RO is on a timer and keeps a tank filled. Greenhouse pump on tank also on a timer. So my spraying is all automatic, as is the lighting, the 400W HPS in winter is on one of those thingies that switches on when light levels fall. the other light, florescent, for uv is on a timer. Leaves me loads of time to potter.

Sounds like you have a superb system Cool

Thanks. I wish I could run all my water bits from RO but it would complicate things. I do draw some RO water off for the plants that need soft water, some times mixing in a bit of rain water, no shortage of that at the moment.
Talking of plants, in 2006 I planted a canna edulis and last year it started to get big but now it's got leaves 3ft long and about 7 inches wide, nice colour too, a sort of reddy purple, stems about 4 ft. Not managed to get it to flower yet. Apparently the rhizomes are edible. Not tried them yet, ha ha. They do have a very tropical look.
cheers arthur.
