just been out and chopped down a branch what next ?

right ive just been out and cut a big branch down ready for my viv for a royal but i want to make sure theres no insects/germs etc etc so i was going to strip all the bark of it and wash it in the bath full of hot water then leave it to dry do you think that would be suffiecent im open to opinion Very Happy what do you guys and gals do ?

I personally don't worry too much about branches, certainly not that any bugs or parasites will harm my reptiles.

If did want to sterilise the branch you can put it in a chest freezer over night or put in the bath and pour a few kettle fulls of boiling water over it.

would it matter if the wood was green or would you have to dry it first? would the sap be a problem?

not sure mate mine was a bit green so ive now taken a blade to it and removed all the bark then put it in the bath and poured 6 kettles of boiling water all over it and its gone orange lol must be the sap but ive removed it from the bath and now going to leave it next to the radiator for a few days to dry out Cool

just been and looked at it and the parts that have dryed have gone a real bright like pine colour Cool
