Yep, I found that I never even have to clean the glass
Seriously though, I haven't had the time to set them up (or the space) My rhaco collection is in a temporary room so the last thing I want to do is carry that lot over there when I will be moving them again in a few months.
The vivs aren't going to look to fancy when set up, very basic. I will silicone supports on the glass so that I can keep everything off the ground (food, water, hides) just the nesting site will sit on the floor. The other thing I will need to do is spray the vivs while empty for a few weeks to build up a slight limescale, otherwise the poor cresteds can't climb the new glass _________________

As you know, i keep Day Geckos. ( I have avoided the temptation to diversify into Cresties!!! ) I glue cork tiles to 3 sides of the terraria to provide security for the inhabitants and to help maintain temp / humidity within the vivaria, it is easier to secure the bamboo canes to the tiles also.
I does take a little time to set up the vivaria initially but i find it works really well. I will post pictures in due course of a step by step, blow by blow, guide on how i set up my Exo Terras for my Geckos. _________________ Fraser Gilchrist

That will be a great thread Fraser, I look forward to it.
I like the idea of the cork tiles and I bet they look great but for me it won't work too well. I need everything to be as easy and practical as possible. Everything I use in the vivs is disposable, egg carton as hides, paper substrate, polystrene deli cup for water a plastic dish for food. This helps maintain a very clean and disease free set up which is what I need when keep the numbers of cresteds I do. _________________

I toyed with the simple setup idea for maintaining my Day Geckos, but an aspect of keeping these animals that i really enjoy is maintaining them in a semi-natural looking and functioning enclosure.
I should just add, that it is only the adults that are kept in this sort of setup. Babies and youngsters are maintained in Pet Pals ( think that is what you call them ), i use kitchen towel as a floor covering, a bamboo cane for basking and a small pothos plant to aid in humidity control, that's it. Nothing fancy but very practical and effective. _________________ Fraser Gilchrist

totally agree and if I had just one group of cresteds then they would be kept in a nice big natural display, unfortunately hygiene and practicality has to come first though.
It's funny though, I actually keep the babies more natural (opposite to you ), all babies are reared on a natural peat substrate to ensure they don't desiccate. _________________

I suppose it is whatever works for the individual and most importantly, the animals themselves!!!
I found that small babies, such as P. klemmeri, would ingest a mouth full of peat when they caught a cricket, so that is my reason for using kitchen towels. _________________ Fraser Gilchrist

too true
I had the same problem with the peat originally but solved it by compacting the peat down. _________________
