I've had my royal for just over two months now and she hasn't poo'd (must be a technical term for it) in 3 weeks today. she has just came out of blue so is probably going to shed sometime late this week. well her next day for feeding is tomorrow do you recon i should wait until she sheds and see if she goes then like she did last time or just feed her as normal? she has eaten a large mouse and two rat weaners since she last went. all my temps seem ok and ive raised the humidity cos shes shedding. |

Keep the cage a little more humid for a while too (will help with shedding and defecating). _________________

well she shed last night in one piece which i was happy about as last time it wasn't. the bad news is she still hasn't defecated. a little more information which might help people with the replies. shes about 5months old and just over 24" (maybe abit bigger now) she used to poo about 4 days after eating a meal when i first got her which i thought was normal? the only thing i have done is change her cool side hide to one exactly the same size as the one on the hot side and got a different water bowl. since placing the new hide she has spent pretty much all her time in it do you think being on the cool side she isnt getting enough belly heat to digest the food properly causing her not to poo? i have been feeding her more so on rats recently but i was feeding her mice before but for the last couple of feeds she has been on weaned rats. do you think this maybe why? do you think i should give her a bath? or just dont worry about it and feed her as normal? how long before i should start to worry in your opinions? |

cheers Lynne so you reckon give her a warm bath i haven't given her any yet i was going to wait to make sure she shed in one piece as i didn't want to have to disturb her again to give her another bath to get rid of stuck skin. last time she shed she did poo which is what i was hoping for when i saw the skin today but no such luck. |
