Almost everyone uses everyday 'household' objects, for the want of a better word, for caring for their charges. I think it would be interesting to see what people use and collect for their animals. ( I hope i am being clear on what i am asking!!! )
For example, my colleagues collect milk bottle tops for me and i use them for feeding baby food to my Day Geckos, no more mess, just use and discard or clean, whichever you prefer!!!
I also use my wife's old tights to stop my Day Geckos escaping during cleaning time. Baffled? Well let me explain, i keep my young day geckos in Pet Pens, i used to run the risk of them escaping every time i cleaned them out. No more!!!! What i do is place the small Pet Pen inside a larger one, i remove the lid of the larger one and stretch a pair of my wife's old, but washed , tights over the top, i cut the legs off, leaving an inch or so from the crotch, now i can put my hands through the holes and open the smaller box. I can see clearly what i am doing and the gecko can't escape outside the larger box. Then all you have to do is shepard the gecko back into its clean tanks once you are finished.
So come on guys, lets see who uses the most obscure object for the most useful task!!!! _________________ Fraser Gilchrist

I like this thread!
Various jar lids; yellow sunpat peanut butter lids are great water bowls for geckos...
Large yoghurt pots with plastic lids (Rachels/Yeo Valley?) - you can remove the cardboard and then have a tall clear container - I use these for handling crickets etc.
I always keep and re use cricket boxes.
Can;t think of any more but must be loads...
