Hey Guys
I'm really going to start breeding my royals next winter when the snakes I currently have will all be ready. I'm going to invest all the money I can this year into my royal project, buying big females and some nice colour morph males!
Next year is so far away though and one can't help but feel curious. I'm trying one pair, 1200g Female 50% Het Albino with 570g Albino male - both are a bit small I know and the male so far doesn't seem interested in breeding, so I'm not sure anything with come of it - but I think they look quite pretty Anyone got experiences with males that don't initially seem interested? Any tips to get them in the mood? He is producing sperm plugs...
Here's the couple:
And here's one of my Male Pastel who's also producing sperm, but I havn't got a female big enough to breed him with this year..
Happy new everyone

Hi CokaCola, notice your in my part of the world, unless that was supposed to be S.Wales Australia
There is a thread floating about on here called 'Tips and Tricks' I think it was called, there are some good ones in there.
The female looks very nice, as does the Bino, others will probably say you'd be better off waiting until she hits the 1500g mark just to be on the safe side, but she does look nice and chunky.
All the best. _________________ www.draco2.co.uk

Nah, you're quite right, I live in Newport S.Wales in Wales UK.
I'v read some good tips from the Americans, from spraying to keeping them at the bottom of the rack, apparently sometimes the males take a while to learn what to do to begin with, but then there are also some really stubborn breeders. I'm not going to be dissapointed if nothing comes from this breeding, like you say both are slightly on the small side, however from what I'v witnessed and read, they are more than capable of breeding a small clutch. Tom in Wildside (Which you might know?) Got a nice healthy 5 eggs out of a female of a similar weight last year, so who knows.
Thanks for the reply!

Very close to me then
Ahhhhhhhhhhh Tom, yes know him well, well, fairly well, I think sometimes he thinks he knew me a little less well I think I was just sent to try him Yes he did, and she was fine afterwards, as he told me it depends on the snake, and as she was a shortie that weight on her made her chunky, and chunky is definately what you want Looking at the picture, if yours is against a 5" ceramic dish, she's certainly nice and chunky, so I'll keep my fingers crossed for you I might bump into you down there one day then, god help you _________________ www.draco2.co.uk

Haha I know him well too the number of years I'v been going in there! Nice guy, can be a sarcastic little I was down there on Saturday with some royals. Not that I'd recognise you if you ever came in
Your right, the snake is very chunky and not long and slender, so we'll see if anything comes
Regards
