More venomous pictures to follow, but I've been too jet-lagged to do it. The hood on that animal was interesting as it's not a defensive posture but just basking, increasing surface area to the sun. It was interesting to note that on the days that I was looking for these there were none out before 7:55am and then there were suddenly more than you would believe, and only 5 mins from the very center of Perth. Tough little buggers to catch, you can't tail them and the habitat is perfect for them to just disappear in the blink of an eye.
I saw about 45 tiger snakes in only a few mornings worth of looking for them.
I'll post pictures of the rest of the herps I saw in the photo section over the next few days.
Happy days

I was out there for 3 weeks, started in Sydney and drove around the southern tip up via Adelaide and across the Nullarbor to Perth . The weather was bad across the Nullarbor only reaching 20 degrees max the whole time and it rained for most of it, so no snakes there, and only started seeing snakes when I got to WA, Dugites Pseudonaja affinis and the Western Tigers Notechis ater occidentalis
I was however lucky enough to visit a couple of places on the way, including Australia's largest venom production facility- Venom Supplies. That was a truly one of the best things I've ever done, I've wanted to work somewhere like that since I was 10, and just to visit the place left me speechless for the next couple of hours. I will post a proper write up on that tomorrow, as it deserves more attention than I have time at the moment.
Just a couple more pics in the mean time from Healesville animal sanctuary.
