Hi Iri,
Yes, that last picture is a Red-Bellied Black Snake, but, check out the colour on the Pseudechis colletti, WOW.
All the best,
Brian.

No worries Smile

The Collett's snake was one of my favorites as well, but totally mental, and I think of all the snakes I saw this one was without doubt the crankiest. It may have been milked that day, I don't know, but it was a feisty little thing and absolutely stunning. Sorry if the quality of the pics suffers a bit, but it was a brand new camera and a novice cameraman but I think you get the idea Smile

Couple more red-belly pics and a Death Adder

Acanthophis antarcticus (i think)

Al

p.s. A friend was kind enough to point out that the brown is an australis not textilis

Hi all,
Those Red-Bellies are awesome, were they easy to handle?, I have caught them in the wild, and found them quite calm (usually).
I thought the picture was a Mulga Snake, for me, the head was too flat for a Brown. Of course, this makes it a Black Snake (Pseudechis), not a Brown Snake (pseudonaja) Wink .
Great pictures, I would love to visit Venom Supplies one day.
All the best,
Brian.

Hey Brian,
the animals at VS was all under the control of the guys who work there, which was fine by me. However they did metion that the red bellies were pretty calm snakes once they got used to you, and the one on the hook in the picture was pretty well behaved. I have to admit they were absolutely stunning, certainly something I would love to see in the wild.
VS was impressive not only due to the huge collection of amazing animals, but also how well they were kept. I can imagine it is pretty difficult to maintain such a large and varied collection and still maintain high standards of hygene and health in the animals. A job well done indeed, much respect. Cool

Al

Great trip, but then Australia is a fantastic country to visit. Its a place any reptile enthusiast should visit if possible.
A red bellied snake was the only snake I saw alive when I was there years ago. Wasn't very cooperative when it came to taking pictures Laughing I saw lots of lizards, several monitor species, but hardly any snakes . Sad We also found lots and lots of other animals, I just loved all those marsupials.
That venom facility looks amazing, I'd love to see that one day as well.
