Thought i would find out from you guys how long after cooling do you introduce the male to the female.
Is there any set time or do you just throw them in and let them get on with it |

I'm interested in this one as well Also what temps should I have my heat mats set to? I've reduced food size, but have left hotspots at 92f 24/7 which I'm positive is wrong, but I'm all confused about the whole cooling thing

Hello Rad.I start introducing males with females a month after my cooling starts.
Now there really is NO set in stone way of doing it as I know breeders who start right away.
Some breeders wait 2 months lol.
In the NON breeding season my room temps are kept at 86 degrees and the hot spot is 94 24/7.
I start my cooling in late October.I have my room temp at 86 during the day and there hot spot is at 94.
Once 5pm rolls around my Herpstat drops my night temps in the room to 80 and then drops my hot spot to 80 also.
Come about 7 am in the morning the Herpstat control turns the room temp back up to 86 and there hot spot back to 94.
This has worked GREAT for me for many years.
That being said I know some breeders who NEVER cool there balls and have great hatching seasons.
I believe it is taking some info from a few great breeders and then tweaking it so that it works best and suits where you live and what will work best as you watch and learn from your own collection.
What I mean by that is I watch my animals habits and by studying them I learn what they want and need
Ok enough rambling from me LOL.
I REALLY hope that made SOME sense and helps a bit.
It's early and I have had a few to many coffees
I wish you all the best this year. _________________ Kelvin,J,Tourangeau

Thanks RoyalCrazy, I've studied Marcus Jaynes website many times, I think I'm just being thick about it all, but I'll certainly have a look at Ralphs, I must have missed that bit
Thanks for that Kelvin, that made perfect sense. So from that would I be right in assuming that I could just drop their hotspots down a bit and let the ambient room temp do the rest? I've got one warm room and the other is a bit colder, but I may move the other 4 up to the new rack and cool them all in the same rack, it'll make it easier to control the heating and humidity as well. I've been misting them every day, and have reduce food size anyway, although I know that some people stop offering food altogether at this time of year and only start feeding again after ovulation (I think it was). _________________ www.draco2.co.uk
