hiya. the heat mat should cover a third of the viv. and i dont use bulbs, just the heat mat. but some might prefer putting bulbs in too. remember your stat as well though. specially important when the mats inside a viv.
temps, 90 hot end,80 cool end.

if your room has an ambient temp in the 80's (degrees f) then you can use just a neat mat, if the air in the room drops lower then ideally you will need to raise it in the viv, a red bulb on a dimming stat will do this.

you ever felt the heat from an unstated heatmat Question get a stat Bud or risk burning the snake...I m sure this was covered in one of your other threads?

i would personally not recommend using any heating device without a stat obviously there are some exceptions but these are very rare. i have seen to many burn photos to not use a stat i would also advise getting the viv all set up and check your temps with a digital thermometer and check your humidity before putting a royal in it. hope this helps.

i personally wouldn't as them being nocturnal but i think there are some types of bulbs which they not supposed to see i think they are the blue and/or red ones. might be worth having a look into them.

just had a quick search and found this
http://www.livefoods.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=68&products_id=128
hopefully somebody else will give there opinion.
