due to the fact that my Indian girls fling their eggs and the paper towel on bottom of tank dries out between changing and spritzing the eggs do not stay moist. How long can they dry out for before becoming no good? I have been keeping all of them but wondering how much of a waste of time this might be.

I just reread my post and realized no one would know WHAT Indians I am talking about! lol! I am referring to my Indian stick insects, Carausius morosus.

i don't know much about stick insects but maybe try using a substrate that holds the moisture for longer? say sphagnum moss? good luck with the eggs!! Very Happy

Just put them in a tub with soil in and keep in damp.

Keep species newly available in the UK in culture - send them to breeders. It's not about money !

Sam - Thanks for reply, I just meant the couple days between the time they are dropped in their tank by the sticks and the time I separate them from the frass they might dry out.

Rob - I've been doing that. I have just been laying them on top of moist peat moss and spritzing as needed to keep moist, watching for any mold. So the couple/few days that they may dry isn't a concern? I look forward to having an ongoing colony of these cool guys, uh, girls ;)
