I have two gravid female Yemen's in a huge viv. For the past few days one of them has been going to the nest box and excavating to find a suitable spot to lay her eggs. Yesterday she laid her eggs.

She was doing a grand job of tamping down the peat mix to cover the eggs up. So I thought I would leave the nest box for another hour to let her finish of her work so she didn't get stressed by the premature removal of the nest box.

When I went back to check she had finished, both yemen's were in the nest box, the remaining gravid one digging to lay eggs and the other that had just laid her eggs, frantically back filling the new hole that the other was digging.

So I quickly separated them, new nest box for still gravid female, removed box with eggs in and gave the other female another nest box so she could tamp down the earth in that, which she did so she felt she had completed her task. Poor thing how confusing!
