I've been reading lots of different things about the DWA license and I would like it if someone could clear things up for me. Could you please tell me what the license allows you to keep and how someone would go about obtaining one. Many thanks, Chris.

it allows you to keep whatever animal you like thats on the list as long as you have the correct setup and the vet and council are happy with your setup, in theory anything from tigers to scorpians.

Thanks, there wasn't anything in particular I wanted to buy, I just wanted to gain a bit of knowledge about things in case I decide to buy anything that were to come under the DWA licensing. Thanks again for clearing things up, I really had no idea what it covered. Embarassed

Yes it is a hazy subject!, i got a few questions as well. It would be great if anyone could answer.

How would you apply for a DWA, do you apply as you would for a CITIES application or is it done via council/government forms?

Why do the prices vary so much to hold a dwa license? i have seen prices from £4000 a year to £25 a year . . . . why such dramatic price differences?

Thanks All

Its all donr through your local council. Prices vary according to what the council (and the visiting vet) want to charge. If the council doesnt want venamous snakes in the area then they will bump the price up to stop people getting a licence.
