|
|
I understand that unlike mammals, snakes are not born with a "supply" of unfertilised sex cells, and so produce them during the breeding season. Does the amount of cells produced match up, generally, with the number of eggs and duds actually laid? Or do they often produce extras that are reabsorbed? See, I am assuming that because of the outlay on the body to produce the follicles, they produce the minimum number necessary but would appreciate any clarification ... |
