Saw the following snippet in today's Daily Telegraph, there is a picture in the paper, but unfortunately not on the website.
Quote: | The Met Office predicted spells "more akin to August" after southern counties recorded temperatures yesterday of around 64F — two degrees above average for this time of year.
The warm spell is so unseasonable it has even confused hibernating wildlife. As temperatures rose dozens of rare Wall lizards were tempted out of their winter beds to bask in the sunshine.
The species originates from Spain and has been introduced into Britain only over the past few decades. Dozens of the lizards ventured out in the Ventnor Botanic Gardens in the Isle of Wight. |
