hi all just got a quick question before i go to bed i bought a baby crested gecko about 2 to 3 weeks ago ( i have bad memory) and i dont know if it is male or female yet but i have been told and have been reading up a bit and most pepol say if u want a pair of creted geckos you should buy them as trios as a baby then u have a better chance of geting a pair and not geting all male and such but i dont have the money or the space for more babys atm ( my dd is on the verge of killing me if i buy eney think els ) that is why i am thinking of just waiting and geting the opasit sex of mine when it gets older and i can tell what sex it is and i am asking you guys here ( as most of u have experiance with breeding and raiseing creted geckos) would it be better for me just to get the new one when mine is larger like to buy an adult one and not a few more babys also i have heard adults are hard t get hold of eney way i have gone on for to long sorry i wrote so much eney way thanks for your advice ^^

If you get lucky and end up with a female then finding an adult male will be easy'ish. If however you end up with a male and need a female you'll find it very hard.

Far easier to buy a few babies and grow them on Wink

i did the exact same thing, i could not afford to buy 2 babies. but i was ucky and my gecko turned out to be female (lucky me) and it turns out adult males are very easy to find, just type it in on reptile classifieds. i am in the middle of arranging to but one in the next couple of weeks.

buying more babies would probably be easier. as the problem with buying another adult later on, is that you have to quarantine them, and you cannot just introduce the new adukt to your old geckos cage as yours will be very territorial, so a thourough clean of the viv will be required

Also bear in mind that if you DO buy a group of youngsters, you may still end up with the arse-end of probability giving you a group of males...

As indeed happened with me - 4 juveniles all turned out male Rolling Eyes
