|
|
Hi all,
Finally, after a long time of reading up on them and persuading my parents, I'm pretty sure I'm getting a Leopard Gecko, Female Tremper Albino and looks pretty nice!
Just got 1 question about it:
I'm hoping to get a male to go with her and breed, she is only 9 months old so wont be ready until next 'season'. Should I be waiting until next season before I put him in with her or would it be alright to put them in after a month or so quarantine so long as I keep them in a 'cooling period' environment (Slightly lower temperatures and shorter days),? If not, then I do have something I can keep him in seperately (This is if I do get a male)
Thanks,

Sorry about this, but just ignore it, I had thought I shouldn't keep them together and this has been confirmed by the person I'm getting her off (A very experienced Leopard Gecko keeper.)
Sorry again,

Yes, you are doing the right thing Tom. Keep them separate until next year - this will give the female time to gain more weight and she should be mature enough to breed. _________________ Best wishes, Jackie

Another question, I've read different things on different care sheets and may well be one of the most disputed things. But what are people's experiences with substrate? I would like to use sand to get a natural look, but I obviously wouldn't if there is a risk of harm. The gecko I'm getting has previously been kept on Reptile Carpet (If that might be needed to be taken into consideration)
Thanks,

I've used playsand for over ten years now and have had no problems with it. _________________ Best wishes, Jackie

I have used sand, corncob, and am currently using fine woodchip, it is really what you think is best!
Best of luck with her (them if you do get a him).

Sounds like PlaySand will be the thing then! I was kind of hoping for that as I would prefer a natural looking viv Thanks for all the replies _________________ 1.1.1 Crested Geckos

Just thought I'd post some pictures of her, I'm not getting her until the 20th but these are the pictures of her that I was sent, I wouldn't normally post them if they weren't taken by me, but the person I'm getting her off (The Leo is a part-exchange for one of my baby cresties) has posted pictures on another forum of the babies, so anyway, here they are: _________________ 1.1.1 Crested Geckos
