general rule of thumb,
baby-sibling once every 5-7 day
sibling - grown on once every 7-10 day's
depends on species and what prey item they are willing to take.
I've used this method with Chondro's to Indian Python's without any problem of becoming overweight.
as for there feeding response, that's just nature,
they want to grow as big as they possibly can in the first year and a half to prevent being eaten by other potential predators and such like.
but in captivity they do-not have these worries. so by regulating the feeding's you can monitor there growth weight by placing them on scales every so often, plus this will give you time to handel and work out your animal's likes and dislikes.

What do you have??? If they have a big appetite and want to eat then I personally feed them. I feed more often but smaller prey, that way you pick up their metabolism without over feeding. Some Royals can pig out for a month them go off food for several, in that situation I feed them a lot more often but again SMALL prey so they are not power fed. You will have a problem feeding normal size prey too frequently. I put good growth on my guys without just putting on girth. I feed younger Royals and most Retics about every 4-5 days, adult Royals normal size prey (girth size) once a week. The ones I feed every 4-5 days has prey HALF the normal size. Most people don't feed this way as it can be expensive!!!! But if you want safer faster growth then that would be advice.

i generally feed every 4-5 days for my growing spotted pythons and green tree python and my 07 African house snake.

My bloods and balls who are still in the early stages of there life i tend to feed every 7-10 days.

I tend to offer several small items as opposed to one large item.

still they are all such aggressive feeders fingers on the menu to.

so could this or lets say regular feeding have any side effect or cause strain other than the possibility of over weight animals.

i must add all are in great condition and healthy weight.
