Just stuck some more AHS's into vivs and I am really happy with them, heat the viv perfectly, guarded and have a built in thermostat aswell so next to no wires coming out the viv.
Anyone else use em? _________________ MORE THAN 2! |

Nope. Where did you get it, I have been looking for those types for a while and my shop doesn't stock them. I am not hot on internet shopping so wouldn't know where is good in the UK for them. _________________ 23/07/07 RIP Mousey a furry companion of 15 years. |

I have one, and fully intend on switching all snake vivs over to them when when I can. They are great.
However, I recently broke mine when transferring it from an old viv to a new one. Basically I pulled a wire off the probe by accident.
I called Microclimate who manufacture them and they will repair it free of charge, all I have to do is send £7.50 P&P so they can return it after the repair, that is good service if you ask me, considering it was my fault the unit broke. _________________ 31August2008-Kent Reptile Show (Amphibians & Inverts welcome) for more information & Booking e:mail: mrac@sky.com |

Heard that a few times, fixing it FOC without it being in the guarantee, really good customer service.

Because AHS heaters work with an on/off thermostat I found the metal surround becomes very hot, very quickly. for this reason I went back to using ceiling mounted ceramic bulbs (with bulb guards). I would consider them for larger boids, but I would still use a guard around the unit. _________________ Graphic design genius (print & web)

Its a pulse proportional thermostat, not an on/off, I haven't had a problem with them getting really hot and I am using up to the largest size. _________________ MORE THAN 2! |

As Young Gun mentioned, it is a Pulse proportional stat that these units use. Also, the unit is fitted with a seperate cut out. Should the unit or casing get too hot, the unit will switch off.
I have not heard of any burns associated with this product. _________________ 31August2008-Kent Reptile Show (Amphibians & Inverts welcome) for more information & Booking e:mail: mrac@sky.com |

The reason I am intersted in them is because I have heard they are extremely good with heat transferal and thus the casing does not get hot enough to cause any burns. If they did have that problem it would have been talked about by quite a few people. All reports I ahve read have been good on this point. _________________ 23/07/07 RIP Mousey a furry companion of 15 years. |
