|
|
Hi everyone,
We have a new addition to our house in a 2 year old Leopard Tortoise called Rocky. He's been with us just under a week now and is kept in a good sized tank with heat lamp etc. and we put him on the lawn in the garden for an hour while its still warm where he is very active (tries to knock down the walls of the pen he's in) however we haven't seen him eat yet, the food (dry grass etc. provided by the expert in the store) seems untouched and there are no droppings - is this a cause for concern or is he still adjusting to his new environment, we would appreciate any comments people may have.
Best wishes
Elv & Jodie |

Hi and welcome you two ...
I don't know too much about tortoises but I reckon they should eat and poop if they are doing good ... ... best follow Karen's advice as it seems a more natural diet than dried stuff imgo ... ... other than that what was it eating before and has it had sufficient time to settle in to new surroundings yet ...
Hope it takes something soon ...

Thanks for the replies guys, i'll give the dandelions a try - as for the weeds/plants do you know of anything in the garden that would be harmful or are we ok just to pick "normal" weeds???
The dried grass stuff was recommended by the store as apparently this is what they would find in their natural habitat (desert regions), he doesn't seem to like it though - we'll definitely mix it up with some proper greenery now.
Really appreciate your advice.
