With ball python collections being as potentially valuable as they could be has anyone looked into or perhaps found a good insurance provider that will cover a collection against say fire and theft?

I know there are policies for individual animals but cannot find much info regarding the insuring of a collection?

It would come under pet insurance, which for reptiles is particularly expensive because of their "exotic" requirements.. increased risk, etc.
And as far as I know there are no polices to cover reptiles over the value of 500quid.. if that...

Actually there are there is one company that will cover upto £2200, though it would be best to contact them as it does say something about vet fees and the animal being upto £100. Now whether that is for the vet fees only cover as opposed to the full comp cover I don't know. I have just sent off a message to them and will see what they say on the matter.

Exotic direct where the ones I was thinking of. I hav just phoned them, there is a nice freephone number and asked about it and they have said that animals over £100 can be covered by all their policies, the below £100 for vet only is a limitation because of the excess involved in the theft or death parts of the other policies. As in it would be cheaper to replce one worth less than £100 then to actually insure it for theft or death as well as vet fees.

I looked into it at one time, and found it seemed impractical in terms of cost's per year
