I am looking for views and opinions on what in your view makes for a good breeder?

Here are some points to get you thinking:

A breeder with an 'all singing, all dancing website'?

A breeder with diverse genetics within his collection?

A breeder that provides hatch / feeding / etc etc etc records?

A breeder that provides a good after sales service?

I am just looking for feedback on what factors influence the buying of animals. Don't limit yourself to just answering these questions. I suppose what i am really asking is: what would make the PERFECT breeder in your opinion?

If you can tell that they care about the animals they are breeding and aren't in it for the money but more for the hobby.
They help with advice and answer questions that you are asking honestly, that they don't try and persuade you that a different (and more expensive) animal is better for you and they just happen to have some available Laughing
Allow you to gain lots of info through talk, pics (maybe even a visit) of the animal you are thinking about without feeling like you have to buy it.
On hand to help after the sale.
Fair prices and good quality stock.

There's just a few lol Laughing

If they are knowledgable about the animals they are selling.

If you visit an dthe animals are in nice, suitable caging with correct temperatures.

Good prices!

And many more!

What everyone else has said already, basically. But care and consideration for their animals would be top priority, not someone who would sell to anyone just to get a sale.

For a start.
I agree they should be in it for the hobby but...
dont agree that they dont think about the money.
Are you saying that the big time ball python breeders and many other reptile breeders
are not in it for the money Question I am sure they care for the animals as
you wouldn't spend $$$ and then not care for it properly.

They should provide good aftersales care.
They should be willing for the buyer to look at there collection and how
they keep there animals
there are more but...

trust through expereience or word of mouth are the big ones for me, you get to know via forums like this who you can trust.
Thats if we are talking regular known breeders.
Private pure hobbyist breeders are a bit different, as often it is one off or a few animals for sale, and often not known or much background, then be as thorough as if buying a used car. Or take a chance and hope for best.

I have bought stuff off scott and after using this forum CPR and as a result if anyone asks about either, I can post 1000% recomendation,
again word of mouth as a result of experience. boamorphs (wheres he gone) is another person I bought from and had total trust. Again word of mouth.
My female royal which produced this year came from a private hobbyist and I just new as soon as I got to his house he could be trusted 100%, he loved his snakes and it came across volumes.
