In one of my setups I have, the humidity is very high and could do with lowering a bit.
So I have increased air vent (kept temps and high humidity)?
The bark I am using is small wood chip and I have notice small mold growing (which I have now cleaned out)?
How can I reduce humidity but keep moss and lar water bowl for BRB?
I have heard that the lar brown bark you can buy for rep stores will not go moldy, is this right?
I am using a 4ft pennine viv (if that helps)
Any help please |

for my columbian rainbow boa when i buy bark at first it is really humid but shorty after that it drys out and is really hard to get moist again. have you got your water bowl over a heat mat because that makes the viv really humid |

It sounds like you are using beech chips these are not meant to be used for species needing high humidity. Like aspen it will go mouldy if it is too wet. The bark substrate is meant to be used with species that need higher humidity levels and as such does not go mouldy.
It has been a very long time since I used it but regular spraying tends to help it stay moist. _________________ 23/07/07 RIP Mousey a furry companion of 15 years. |

It is a lot easier to have a humid hide box than to have the entire viv humid. A large tupperware type box filled with damp moss and with a hole in the side hidden under a large piece bark works very well. _________________ People laugh at me because I am different

I don't find the penines have much ventilation and have always drilled extra holes in them.. _________________

I have already put more ventilation in.
And have a open topped moss hide, but might try it with a lid. |

i have always found this, i always put 2 soffit vents in either side of the roof of the viv, this helped a lot |
