When I and my friend used to keep rats we used a shredder and just shredded all the newspapers. They were fine n it though the white ones did get a little smuddged occassionally until we started to iron the papers to fix the ink (and that is why the righ used to have their papers ironed before reading them ). They loved it. _________________ 23/07/07 RIP Mousey a furry companion of 15 years. |

Depends on your set up if you use sawdust in the floor and some form of nesting material, then you can use peat ( make sure that it is totally dry though) as a substrate and just throw in a few sheets of kitchen towel the rats will covert this to nesting material
Use caution with newspaper the print can be toxic ( it certainly used to be a few years ago unless the formulation has changed
alternatively "waste paper" put through a shredder ( if you have one) works well _________________ Chris - A boy named Sioux
