just got a baby male nosy be panther chameleon!

He's amazing and he's in his tank...

But i'm a little worried... he seems to spend a lot of time being black/brown, like, JET black...

And i also just saw him on his back legs with his mouth open. (still black)

and one more thing... lol

when a chameleon sleeps, what is it's behavior? been quite worried at night time, as he turns white and his breaths are very far apart...

that sounds pretty normal to me, the young ens seem to be a little stressy, so best just to let him settle in a bit. Do you have any pictures?

Hi Harrison, the dark or black colouration is one of two things he could be cold or very stressed.

If you could give some idea of his setup i.e. temps size etc, it may help to sort the problem.

Chameleons when asleep go much paler and they slow right down, so hence the shallow breathing.

Can you give an idea of your temps, babies like it cooler than adults, i keep mine mid to high 70s by using 25 watt halogen desk lamps, these just give off a nice heat.

Saying that i am not an expert and can only say what i do for mine Very Happy

enjoy him they are fantastic to keep.

OK...

bought a big viv for him when he gets to adulthood... (915x406x1216) but at the moment, he's in a glass tank with the lid off for ventilation. unfortunately, this was the only tank i could use as i couldn't put him in the big one, and had no other one for his younger years...

the tank is 2 foot x 1 foot, and i'm using an exo-terra repti glow tube (10.0 UVB)

the temp at the moment is 72F (daytime) and i'll drop it down to 65F when the lights go out.

he's feeding (eating no#1 crix dusted in nutrobal) and drinking fine...

what do you think?

Sounds ok Harrison, he could probs manage small size 2 crix at his size Very Happy

Make sure he can get up quite high it makes them feel secure.
Give him lots of cover, you can get nice small ficus plants this will all help to alleviate the stress Very Happy
