Hahaha made you look!
Anyway I was hoping for a tiny piece of advice regarding my two snakes (male Hog Island Boa & male corn).
My boa really needs another viv as he's now far too big for the 28" one he's in just now (too big for his hides too - when he goes in the smallest it sits half an inch off the ground). I was looking at vivariums from vivbuilder.co.uk and saw the following...
http://www.vivbuilder.co.uk/proddetail.php?prod=DS7
... will this be OK for the two of them? Will they smell each other and get annoyed at all? Also is the viv size a bit large for a corn snake (I have him in a standard 36" viv just now). If I'm right the viv size is perfect for the boa though I'm not sure if it'd be too big for the corn. I'd rather get something like this to keep them both in as my corns viv is balanced on the top of my shelving unit and it's not ideal.
Trouble is convincing my parents to let me spend £200 on a double viv when my corn already has an adequate home. |

Are you any good at woodwork? If you are, you could make it yourself fairly easily. If not, then maybe your Dad could? My husband just made 3 vivs for our snakes (his first attempt). One was custom made to fit between shelves. The other two are a 2ft viv and a 3ft viv (my Royal's new home) Takes approximately 3 hours to put one viv together. B&Q will cut your chosen wood to the size you want and most glass companies have off-cuts of glass which they will make ready for you at a very reasonable price. We've got 6mm or 7mm (not sure of the exact size) laminated glass. Total cost for 3 vivs was only £25 for the glass. _________________ 3 Royal Pythons - Byron, Bobby & Rosie

Unfortunately my skills in woodwork never went past making a wooden pencil case in my second year of high school. I'd maybe be tempted to have a bash with a friend if I had good instructions but I've yet to find any on the web. |

http://www.freewebs.com/crossfireenclosures/ Just adapt thesizes to fit your needs. Also the equiptment like vents. This is a US site so some of the stuff may not be available here.
The title made me think something different. If you did buy that one then it would be fine. It wouldn't matter if they were at different sides of the room given their keen sense of smell I wouldn't be suprised if they could smell each other then. Therefore one above the other would not make much of a difference. _________________ 23/07/07 RIP Mousey a furry companion of 15 years. |

My husband got an instruction CD Rom through the internet. I can't remember what it's called. He's popped up to the supermarket at the moment but I'll ask him when he gets back. I do know the instructions are very clear and concise.
I'll also find out where he got the vents from. _________________ 3 Royal Pythons - Byron, Bobby & Rosie

I keep House Snakes, different species of rat snakes, Egg Eaters and two Boa's in the same large enclosure and have done for many years. The trick is to see who is compatible and feed separately. _________________ "Dead sure lasts a long time!" |

I don't think I'd be very good with wood work to be honest and I want something that looks good. Think I'll go for the double stack viv and just use it for the pair of them.
To save confusion the viv I posted a link to is a double stack one. I had no intention of keeping a corn and a boa in exactly the same viv. |
