Working in conservation give me the chance to see snakes and lizards around the UK in some great places.
This week I've had the chance to work with Grass Snakes ( a species absent from the NE of England).
A very small female grass snake was captured on Friday afternoon and was being moved to a safer site as part of a construction program.
Whilst in the bag she dropped 5 pearly white eggs which I'm incubating.
Seems very late to be laying and she was a real small female snake.
I will post some images this afternoon so you can all see her and eggs. _________________ Live for today as your dead for a long long time

I have an area of land near me which I know has Grass snakes. I walk it twice a day, morning and late afternoon, all weather.
However, I have yet to see a live Reptile of any kind. _________________ 31August2008-Kent Reptile Show (Amphibians & Inverts welcome) for more information & Booking e:mail: mrac@sky.com |

iam a road worker , and live in the south east, in the last few weeks ive been coming across quite a few grass snakes , diff sizes , found the first couple under some slabs , in the footpath i was re tarmacing , no i didnt tarmac over them
the other was a small group of 4 under a concrete crossing i was ( yes you guessed it ) tarmacing,
i moved and released all in to some near by waist ground , iam only mentioning this , as for 16 years of roadworks ive never found them in the highway , could this be a look up for our little native friends , mebbe the population is adapting to all the romoval of waistland and scrubland in the south east , fibgers crossed anyway |
