in toxicity terms the inland taipan is the most venomous snake on the planet, but its a shy snake and lives in the outback so not many people get bitten, I believe only a handful of people have been bitten and most in captive collections, if you were to get bitten out in there natural habitat you would almost certainly be dead. _________________ Theres nothing right on the left side of my head and nothing left on the right |

really theres a whole load of snakes that if you were to get bitten and you were in the middle of their natural habitat you would be dead including the bushmaster. _________________ Theres nothing right on the left side of my head and nothing left on the right |

I'm not too sure how the conclusion is reached, but after checking a few top 10 lists ... Inland Taipan / Fierce snake is still coming out tops ... must be on venom potency though im thinking .... _________________ Cheers

its more than likely done on LD50 in which case the inland taipan easily comes out on top _________________ Theres nothing right on the left side of my head and nothing left on the right |

The LD50 is great if you are a mouse vet treating snakebit mice often. Other than that, its merely a rough estimate.
Take a Boomslang. A yield offers about 7mg. A tenth of a mamba's yield. Yet a single drop is enough to kill. _________________ ngiyakuthanda Sonvanger |
