Checked the incubator last night (part of my obsessive morning and night ritual ) to find that this little monster had finally hatched!
It's a hatchling Goniurosaurus luii
I'm so excited, it's my first ever hatchling and he's a right chunka munka! I still can't believe how big he is, how on earth did he fit in that egg? I just love his little stripey tail
I've got another cooking, so fingers crossed for his sibling! Just had to share _________________ Sophie

Thanks
After hatching, the striped on their body stay fairly white for a bit, then they develop their orange colour as they get older. But the tail stripes will stay white.
Lol yep, they do look a bit demonic with their red eyes
This one is Daddy:
(his tail isn't stumpy like it looks...he just curled it round the other way )
And Mum:

Thanks I've had the pair for nearly a year now, but I don't think i've talked about them very much on the forum!

They're in a 2ft viv, with quite a bit of height - although they're mainly terrestrial they do like to climb! So they have bits of wood and corkbark to give climbing height, plus a corkbark tube which they tend to sleep in, and foliage for naturalistic cover. The male also has a habit of walking upside down on the mesh top!
They don't need supplementary heat, room temperature is ok for them as long as it doesn't get too hot or cold. However, humidity is very very important for them, so they have a soil-type substrate which holds the water well and they get sprayed nightly.
I havn't got an up to date photo, but i'll try and remember to take one tomorrow! _________________ Sophie
