Once my baby crested geckos got to a good enough size I plan on selling them, with the options to the buyer of:

1-They collect from my house

2- I drop off (Though would only be available in the North East)

3- Meet (Only available if meet is in North East)

I'm thinking of adding Shipping to that list, as it would give me more chance of selling as it appeals to people all over the country...

My mum seems reluctant to do that though, and when I said to my dad those 3 options he mentioned about it only appealing to North East and he may be alright with it. But I'm split on the decision.

So just a few questions:

1-What are people's experiences with Shipping reptiles?

2-What company would you use for it?

3-What sort of container would I put them in? Would it need to be heated? (What I thought would be done was put them in an empty cricket box and then inside bubble wrap inside a cardboard box, though I thought this might restrict air flow?)

4-What sort of cost is it?

Thanks,

Tom

Hi Tom,
Cresteds are perfectly fine sent by overnight courier (as are most reptiles) just so long as they are packed up well and protected from temperature extremes.

Unfortunately your options for shipping are limited, ONLY TnT offer an overnight service for reptiles but they are extremely selective on opening up new accounts for this service.

This really only leaves you the ReptileTaxi guys, I've not ever dealt with them so have no contact details but they do seem to be widely used and good value.

What ever you do...DO NOT send them by post in any format! (Illegal and very cruel to the animals involved).
