It's an old tip, but instead of using a pot with a hole in to drip water through the viv, try using Ice Cubes. you don't have to worry about the hole getting blocked or cleaning it, just place a fresh ice cube (or 2) everyday instead.

Only problem there tho is that the water is cold. And I would say its better to have it warm... as it would be in Yemen
