The first of the perentie eggs has pipped and hatched after 242 days.
The pipped egg yesterday.
The hatchling is HUGE. Here it is, viewed from above, with a similar shot of lace monitor hatchlings for comparison (another perentie egg has pipped, as you can see).
It's unbelievably beautiful. The photos don't do it justice.

utterly stunning. Well done!! How about shipping some to a zoo in Europe so we can see them here as well?
I saw an adult while travelling in Australia, managed to get to within 2 m from it. Very nice experience. |

I think thats great idea Ron W. I would love to see perenties in Europe I would even be willing to buy them for the zoo if it meant me gaining some offspring.
Well done Dave and oustanding animals. I also hear that Alice Springs Reptile Park also have hatchlings? |
