the White-sided black rat was on my "i'm looking for . . . . " list, so was very pleased with him Very Happy

the Creamsicle Corn was something of an impulse buy Embarassed i wanted to stay clear of corns this time but this little lady was too pretty to pass up Laughing

Go to your local reptile shop and ask them to show you, it is easier to do it that way than try to explain it in text.

Yes it will try to get away from you as far as it is concerned you are a possible predator, also our hands are hotter than their comfort level and when babies this is more important because of the high surface area to volume ratio so handle for about 5-10 minutes and put back. Do not handle a nervous snake before feednig, and leave it for about 48 hours after feeding. They will settle down eventually, though some never do, as the learn that you are not going to turn them into a meal.

If you don't want to get bit don't keep snakes as it is not a matter of if but when.

Nice snakes by the way, sorry to ahve gone ot lovesnakes.

How large is the snake Aidan? Small snakes can't actually pierce the skin, and they calm as they grow. Firstly, (once settled in and fed a few times) out the tub in the bath and try to handle him, then he can't escape if he does a runner. Don't approach from above, and don't grab him. Let him smell you fingers first etc.,. They are much calmer once in your hands too, so try using a pencil as a snake hook to gently lift him, and then place him in your hands.

Good luck.

Back on topic (maybe an Admin can split these posts?):

Very nice additions! The White-sided rat is particularly nice!
