Just checking over the collection and thought I'd have rumage thru the gilas, as soon as I opened the first one I noticed the female looking real thin and then saw a couple of eggs Very Happy

I checked the whole cage and found a total of 4 BIG eggs, although unfortunately they were all infertile (rock hard and yellow). I guess the good thing is that the hibernation and 'seasoning' etc worked and got them to breed, so I just need to figure why the infertile eggs. To be honest it may of been down to no suitable nesting site as I kinda didn't bother trying too hard with the gilas this year, had far too much going on with work etc and only put the male in with two of the females and then never put a nest box in with them as I never saw any matings.

I've now put a nesting site in with the other female, so maybe fingers crossed she will lay too. If they are infertile then my guess is the hibernation wasn't long enough.

Anyway a big Very Happy for getting eggs but an even bigger Sad for them being infertile....but then again there's always next year and another 7 females Cool Laughing

Bad luck Scott, but a step in the right direction. Fingers crossed for the next female.

Shame about the infertiles, but like the others said maybe next year. Hopefully you'll be all settled in your new house and have more time to put some effort into these.
