My 2 juvies I bought at the start of the year are about 6-7 months old now, so they should be sexable. I was just wondering if anyone trusts or is good at sexing ciliatus by examining the preanal pores.

I have seen various pictures of male pores, but have also read that females can have pseudo pores, I have not seen any images however.

I remember when Herbert was at the age of my 2 juvies he had quite an obvious bulge, it's not quite so easy with these guys though...

Let me know what you think.

I would almost call the second one a male, first one is harder. Could be female, but there are some pores...

To me the 2nd one looks almost definately like a male, the first one is harder to tell, but also looks like it may be a male.

3" and 6-7 months old?

Cresties are usually about that size when they hatch Laughing

Are you sure you have got the age right?

3 inches??!! Shocked You sure about their age and size? Confused

Steve, I can only take a guess but from what I know the 2nd one looks male (as the rest have pointed out) and the first one I would leave to sex at a later date lol.. it looks as though it could have some pores and a slight bulge but doesnt look bulgy enough to say its a definate male... Confused Sorry I can't be more help!
I'd like to see a collection of pics showing proven males and females at various ages.. then it might be easier for the untrained eye to determine sex.
